Teaching and Learning Strategy


Emphasizing the central role of education, the Faculty of Physical Therapy adopts an effective strategy aimed at providing students with learning opportunities, enhancing their educational and practical experiences and ensuring high levels of teaching and learning.

         The strategy and the necessary policies have been prepared with the participation of all concerned parties from the faculty to evaluate the current educational policy and to identify their views on the educational policy in the next five years. The faculty strategy relies on self-learning to raise the efficiency of the educational process, and to pay attention to the role of physiotherapy and its importance within the medical team system.



The teaching and learning strategy is based on the following elements:
v Adopting and applying national academic standards for physiotherapy for the bachelor stage, and ensuring that the educational program is in line with the mission and objectives of the college and academic standards.

v Achieve consistency between the content of the program and the curriculum. Each curriculum includes the objectives of the course and the intended educational outcomes.

v The Faculty is keen to adapt the educational program and meet the needs of the labor market, leading to the graduation of a physiotherapist able to compete and participate actively in the development of society.

v Ensure that teaching stuff have adequate knowledge of applying the adopted policies to achieve the desired results.









The teaching and learning strategy is achieved through the following policies:


1-   Developing teaching methods:

       The teaching and learning process of the college is based on providing students with opportunities to learn and developing traditional teaching and learning styles based on direct education, as well as adopting a variety of non-traditional styles to provide self-learning opportunities to all students to achieve the mission and vision of the faculty:


1.1.   Direct Education (Traditional)

       Works to provide students with concepts and scientific fundamentals where they are the main source of knowledge and learning experience. The lecturer uses different teaching methods, giving the student the best learning opportunities to be able to use those methods and to make that information practical. This method is one of the primary methods for preparing the student to interact with other methods used within the faculty.


1.2.   Interactive learning (active education)

Apply the method of interactive learning through:

-         Cooperative Education: (Working Groups)

-         E-Learning

-         Brainstorming (Discussions)

-         Self-Learning (Research)


2.          Academic support for students:

The academic is achieved through:

- Inform students of leadership and office hours of the teaching staff at the beginning of the academic year.

- The presence the teaching staff at the stated times stated to provide support to students.
- Achieving the proportion of faculty resources with the number of students.
- Encourage creative students and help defaulters.

- Take periodic corrective action based on scientific leadership reports.


3 - Training programs field:

Students are trained in various hospitals and in the outpatient clinic under the supervision of the teaching staff to acquire the skills that qualify them.






4 - Quality Assessment of Teaching and Learning in the faculty:

-          The College continues to measure students' satisfaction with various areas of educational effectiveness. Periodic questionnaires distributed to students, meetings and seminars with students to measure and evaluate their satisfaction with teaching methods, teaching staff, financial support, etc. Questionnaires are analyzed to use their results in developing the corrective plan.


-          The College is keen to implement the mechanisms that ensure the fairness of the evaluation of students through the comprehensiveness of evaluation methods. The external examiner system is also applied who prepares a report on the exam, which is approved by the relevant department council.


-         The library equipped with furniture and suitable equipment and databases to serve students. The library also contains a large number of references and scientific journals and scientific production of the faculty represented in the letters of master and doctorate. The electronic library is connected to the international network of information. It contains electronic databases for scientific research and the faculty journal, as well as links to international physiotherapy sites.



-          The faculty adopts a mechanism to review and develop the teaching and learning strategy based on the results of the examinations and surveys directed at students, faculty members, the supporting body and alumni, and to prepare an annual audit report on the strengths and weaknesses in the implementation of the educational process policies, with emphasis on the implementation of the recommendations from the audit reports.

Faculty of Physical Therapy - Cairo University is the first academic institute in Egypt, Started in 1962 to this day as a main provider for physical therapist and Academic staff in Egypt and the Middle East 


The Faculty have Awarded the National Accreditation in 2014, and seeking for International Accreditation
